Senior Mining Engineer (Underground Mining)

Location: Waihi, New Zealand; residential onsite role. The position follows an 8/6-day roster and requires a valid New Zealand working visa.

What you will do

• Deliver short-term underground mine plans aligned with production targets and monthly plans.
• Prepare and review stope designs, drill and blast plans, development designs, and technical documents.
• Create and review mine designs and schedules using Deswik CAD and OPS.
• Monitor plan compliance, adapt schedules, and implement contingencies when operational conditions change.
• Collaborate with geotechnical, survey, and operations teams to resolve execution challenges.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of 3–4 mining engineers while supporting succession planning.

Requirements

• Recognised degree in Mining Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 4 years of postgraduate experience in mining engineering.
• Full and current driver licence.
• Strong Deswik skills, including CAD and OPS.
• Valid New Zealand working visa required.
