Senior Crypto Security Engineer (Space Systems)

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for space and ground cryptographic units across development, integration, delivery, and lifecycle management.
• Lead trade studies and provide data-driven recommendations on encryption unit designs, interfaces, performance, environmental constraints, and testability.
• Oversee hardware and firmware design, subsystem integration, secure architectures, and compliance with mission and cybersecurity standards.
• Plan and oversee verification and validation activities, including test plans, procedures, reports, dry runs, SVTs, TRRs, CDRL reviews, anomaly resolution, and requirement traceability.
• Support Protected Key Management Architecture, secure key management processes, and architecture documentation.
• Represent crypto engineering with government and industry partners while leading and mentoring junior- and mid-level engineers.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• An active, in-scope TS/SCI security clearance is required.
• Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of systems engineering experience, including areas such as cryptography, cybersecurity, requirements, verification, integration, or testing.
• 10+ years of experience with cryptography, NSA certification processes, and key management, including 5+ years supporting military, Department of Defense, or Intelligence Community space and ground programs.
• Understanding of systems engineering across concept, development, production, operations, and sustainment phases.
• Strong technical writing, communication, presentation, and Microsoft Office skills.

Nice to have

• Technical bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, information systems, information technology, or computer science.
• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
• Experience with NSA’s Key Management Infrastructure, HAIPEs, and cross-domain solutions.
• Certifications such as CISSP, SANS, CEH, INCOSE CSEP or ESEP, or OCSMP.
