Data Center Technician - Cambridge, ON

Location: Cambridge, Ontario, Canada; 100% onsite. The role includes up to 10% travel to other data center locations and requires responding to onsite equipment failures or emergencies within 60 minutes during scheduled on-call shifts.

Salary: CAD 75,000–117,500 per year, plus discretionary bonus, equity awards, and benefits based on eligibility.

What you will do

• Maintain data center operations to ensure service availability, reliability, and defined service levels.
• Diagnose and repair hardware, networking equipment, and software-related failures.
• Perform root cause analysis and provide technical support to data center teams.
• Assemble, install, maintain, and inventory servers, networking hardware, tools, and test equipment.
• Develop documentation and scripts for updating server and networking hardware.
• Train internal teams and participate in a rotating on-call schedule within a 24/7 environment.

Requirements

• Experience troubleshooting and assembling computer hardware.
• Experience with the Linux operating system.
• Ability to transport and position equipment weighing up to 50 lbs and work in cramped or elevated spaces.
• Ability to work in data center hot and cold aisles with temperatures ranging from 60°F to 90°F.
• Availability for a flexible 24/7 schedule and rotating on-call shifts.
• Strong time management, organization, communication, prioritization, and incident-response skills.

Nice to have

• Data center and computer networking experience.
• Experience with Python, Bash, or other scripting languages.
• Experience with Cisco IOS or Juniper JunOS.
• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in an IT-related field.
