Health Information Specialist 1

Location: Onsite in El Paso, Texas, United States; Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

What you will do

• Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with company and facility policies.
• Retrieve, assemble, digitize, and transmit medical records accurately and securely.
• Protect patient confidentiality and apply HIPAA and medical privacy requirements to prevent unauthorized disclosure.
• Prepare patient charts and maintain health records in paper and electronic systems.
• Provide front-desk and telephone customer service, assist with patient walk-ins, and manage related administrative tasks.
• Meet site productivity expectations and communicate work volumes or operational issues to the manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong customer service, clerical, communication, organization, and data-entry skills.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel, with regular use of phones, fax machines, printers, and office equipment.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, manage changing priorities, and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Ability to commute between locations as needed and work overtime during peak seasons when required.

Nice to have

• Experience in a healthcare or medical office environment.
• Production or metric-based work experience.
• In-person customer service experience and the ability to build relationships with onsite clients.
• Experience suggesting process improvements and providing feedback to internal stakeholders.
