Financial Analyst III - Controller - Corporate Accounting (Finance)

Location: Hybrid, requiring 4 days in-office per week at One M&T Plaza in Buffalo, New York, United States

Salary: $74,600–$124,400 annual (USD)

What you will do

• Support accounting and financial reporting for Human Resources and Employee Benefits programs.
• Prepare complex financial schedules, reconciliations, and corporate, SEC, shareholder, Board, internal management, and bank regulatory reports.
• Perform or review variance analysis, interpret data from multiple sources, resolve issues, and ensure timely report submission.
• Perform data integrity testing, general ledger entries, and activities aligned with GAAP, SEC disclosure, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
• Participate in special projects, process improvements, audit-point remediation, and risk and regulatory issue escalation.
• Mentor or train junior staff and collaborate with Finance, Human Resources, business areas, and department management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of experience, or an associate’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in accounting, auditing, operations, or financial institutions.
• Comprehensive understanding of finance, accounting, regulatory reporting, business operations, and banking products.
• Advanced PC skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, multitasking, and workload-prioritization skills.
• Must work in the Buffalo office 4 days per week; visa sponsorship is not available, including for current or future F-1, CPT, OPT, and STEM OPT holders.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Financial services industry experience.
• Experience with data visualization or data querying applications.
