Senior Supplier Quality Engineer I (Aerospace): Establishing supplier quality systems and improving the quality, cost, and delivery performance of purchased aerospace components with an accent on supplier audits, quality standards, non-conformance management, and corrective actions. Focus on identifying supplier process failures, investigating root causes, deploying PFMEA tools, and coordinating improvements across suppliers, development, production, and senior management.

Location: Chantilly, Virginia, United States. This role is based in a U.S. office and may involve production-area exposure. U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee/asylee status, or eligibility to obtain the required ITAR authorizations is required.

Salary: $102,400–$128,000 USD per year, plus potential stock, cash incentives, and employee stock purchase benefits.

What you will do

  • Establish supplier quality systems, processes, standards, procedures, and control plans.
  • Improve purchased product quality and supplier performance through metrics, reporting tools, audits, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform on-site and remote supplier audits and manage audit findings, concessions, non-conformance reports, and CAPA activities.
  • Identify supplier process failures, investigate root causes, and verify corrective-action implementation.
  • Deploy PFMEA tools, techniques, and training to support targeted improvement actions.
  • Act as a liaison between suppliers, development, production, internal customers, and senior management while supporting production scaling.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a quality engineer in defense or aerospace.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or mechatronic engineering.
  • Strong practical understanding of quality standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or IATF 16949.
  • For work in U.S. offices, meet ITAR eligibility requirements or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations.
  • Ability to work for prolonged periods sitting, standing, walking, and using a computer, with occasional exposure to production-area noise, dust, and fumes.

Nice to have

  • Experience in aerospace, medical, automotive, or another regulated industry.
  • Understanding of EEE parts requirements and IPC J-STD or IPC-A-610 standards.
  • Experience developing KPIs, leading quality investigations, and applying 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, Ishikawa, or similar problem-solving methods.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and geometric dimensions.
  • Ability to work independently.
