Senior Software Engineer, Backend (5G NTN)

Location: Remote (United States); flexible hybrid remote/in-office arrangements may also be available. Applicants must satisfy U.S. export-control requirements for access to ITAR/EAR-controlled information.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain the Spacetime platform using C++, Golang, Java, gRPC, and Protocol Buffers.
• Build scalable distributed systems and operate cloud-native workloads on Kubernetes.
• Develop orchestration features for 5G NTN, Direct-to-Cell services, RIC/SMO capabilities, network models, and TN-NTN federation APIs.
• Translate 3GPP and O-RAN concepts and interface specifications into clean, tested software with solution architects.
• Integrate platform components, troubleshoot issues, and maintain software design and implementation documentation.
• Track developments in 5G NTN, O-RAN, satellite communications, and related technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• Professional experience with C++, Golang, and/or Java.
• Knowledge of gRPC and Protocol Buffers.
• Experience building and operating distributed systems.
• Familiarity with wireless communications, wireless performance modeling, or satellite communications.
• Eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled information under applicable ITAR/EAR requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with 3GPP 4G/5G RAN, Core, network management, or orchestration systems.
• Hands-on experience with O-RAN architecture, SMO, RIC, rApps, xApps, or O-RAN interfaces.
• Experience with 3GPP NTN, Direct-to-Cell, Supplemental Coverage from Space, or standards-based APIs and data models.
• Kubernetes and cloud-native telecom deployment experience, including CNFs, Helm, or service mesh.
• Experience with distributed-system performance optimization, aerospace and defense or telecommunications, or software-defined networking.
