Software Engineer (C++)

Location: Hybrid in Lexington, Massachusetts; candidates must be within 100 miles of the facility and should expect to be onsite three days per week on average.

What you will do

• Design and develop modern sensor systems and components for a ballistic missile defense system.
• Build advanced software for radar control, with potential work on telemetry and optical systems.
• Develop modular, object-oriented software using C++, Linux, and publish-subscribe middleware.
• Implement software and algorithm development within modern open-systems architectures.
• Collaborate with technical teams on debugging, version control, development practices, and system integration.
• Participate in field testing, which may involve travel to Huntsville or Kwaj.

Requirements

• US citizenship is required, and candidates must be able to obtain an Active Secret Clearance; an Interim Secret Clearance is sufficient to start.
• Bachelor's degree.
• At least five years of software or algorithm development experience.
• At least five years of C/C++ programming, including C++11 or later, the Standard Template Library, and Boost.
• At least five years of object-oriented software design and development in Linux or UNIX environments.
• Experience with modern software development practices, version control, debugging, and collaboration tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with Java, Python, MATLAB, Perl, shell scripting, or PowerShell.
• Experience with publish-subscribe middleware, parallel programming, distributed systems, network programming, or real-time programming.
• Backend programming, SQL, XML, GUI development, or hardware and software integration experience.
• Familiarity with x86 hardware and UNIX system or network configuration.
• Experience with active sensing technologies such as radar and willingness to learn more about their processing and control.
