Operations Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering (AI)

What you will do

• Run staffing, forecasting, capacity planning, budgeting, and utilization processes for the professional services organization.
• Match engineers and consultants to engagements and track delivery health, margins, timelines, conversion, and overrun risks.
• Build dashboards and reporting that provide leadership with real-time portfolio visibility.
• Manage escalations, vendors, subcontractors, planning cycles, headcount models, and organizational capacity planning.
• Design, build, deploy, and maintain AI agents and internal applications for status reporting, staffing recommendations, account health scoring, and proposal generation.
• Translate operational needs into technical requirements, evaluate tooling and integrations, prototype solutions, and train delivery staff on new tools.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in operations, business operations, or technical program management within professional services, consulting, or forward-deployed engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
• Production-quality coding experience with Python and/or JavaScript.
• Direct experience building or configuring AI agents or LLM-based tools, including prompt design, tool or function calling, agent orchestration, MCP, or similar protocols.
• Experience with staffing models, utilization tracking, forecasting, margin analysis, dashboards, internal applications, and strong SQL or data-manipulation skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, executives, delivery leads, finance, and account teams.

Nice to have

• Experience in forward-deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or implementation consulting.
• Familiarity with services-industry benchmarks, enterprise SaaS, low-code tools, or workflow automation platforms.
• Background in change management or organizational design.
