What you will do
- Assess patients and families, develop nursing care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes.
- Administer medications, chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and procedural medications in accordance with clinical policies.
- Perform pre-procedural assessments, medication reconciliation, IV access, laboratory work, sedation monitoring, and post-sedation recovery.
- Provide patient and family education, psychosocial support, discharge teaching, and referrals to community resources.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, coordinate patient flow, delegate care, and function as charge nurse when needed.
- Support quality improvement, clinical research, specimen collection, biopsy procedures, and Joint Commission readiness.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Nursing; a bachelor’s degree in Nursing is strongly preferred. Associate degree holders must complete a BSN within four years.
- Completion of the Oncology Nurse Residency Program or at least one year of recent Registered Nurse experience.
- Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or, as appropriate, the State of New Hampshire.
- AHA BLS certification required; AHA ACLS is accepted as the minimum requirement.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, independent decision-making, effective communication, and interdisciplinary teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a busy setting with complex patients ranging from young adults to geriatrics.
Nice to have
- Ambulatory or oncology nursing experience.
- Professional certification such as OCN, BMTCN, CPHON, AOCNP, CRNI, or RN-BC.
