Technical Writer (DoD)

Location: On-site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States; US citizenship required.

What you will do

• Develop, revise, and maintain IETMs, NATOPS/NATIP publications, technical manuals, procedures, and related technical data products.
• Review engineering source data and convert complex system information into clear content for operators, maintainers, instructors, and other end users.
• Update operational descriptions, maintenance instructions, troubleshooting information, procedures, warnings, cautions, and notes.
• Structure written content for incorporation into S1000D data modules using EAGLE, Arbortext, and related authoring tools.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Product Lifecycle Management, Curriculum, data authors, graphic artists, and subject matter experts.
• Support peer, technical, customer, validation, and verification reviews while maintaining traceability, configuration control, and compliance with publication standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent education and professional experience.
• At least 1 year of professional experience in technical writing, technical publications, technical data development, or a related field.
• Experience developing or revising technical manuals, IETMs, and NATOPS/NATIP publications.
• Familiarity with S1000D, structured technical publications, and EAGLE, Arbortext, or equivalent authoring tools.
• Strong technical writing, grammar, editing, research, and communication skills.
• US citizenship and eligibility for a DoD Security Clearance are required; visa support and C2C arrangements are not available.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting DoD aerospace, aviation, training system, or other complex defense programs.
• Experience developing Navy IETMs and NATOPS/NATIP publications from aircraft or system engineering source data.
• Experience with technical publication validation and verification, EVM, AS9100, or equivalent quality management systems.
• Active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
