AI Application Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA; onsite role with up to 25% local travel.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain AI and machine learning models in production.
• Deliver manufacturing solutions for predictive maintenance, quality inspection, yield optimization, and throughput improvement.
• Build data pipelines and integrate AI solutions with enterprise and industrial systems.
• Partner with Operations and IT to define use cases, translate business challenges into AI applications, and assess build-versus-buy options.
• Monitor model performance, support governance and documentation, and standardize reusable solutions across sites and functions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing or OT environments, including exposure to PLC, SCADA, or MES systems.
• At least 2 years of experience developing and deploying AI/ML solutions.
• Experience working with structured and unstructured data and deploying AI-based vision systems.
• Experience with Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, ETL pipelines, APIs, microservices, and Docker.
• Ability to work across operations, engineering, service, IT, and leadership functions and translate business needs into deployable solutions.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree.
• Experience in discrete manufacturing, digital factory, or Industry 4.0 initiatives.
• Familiarity with MES, PLM, and ERP integrations such as SAP, Tulip, or Windchill.
• Experience with OpenCV, vision models, time-series analysis, and edge AI deployment.
