Principal AI Computer Vision Engineer

Location: Fridley, Minnesota, United States; hybrid schedule with onsite work 4 days per week at the Rice Creek, Minnesota facility. Travel: 25%.

Salary: $160,800–$241,200 USD annually, plus eligibility for a short-term incentive plan.

What you will do

• Develop, train, validate, optimize, and deploy computer vision models for manufacturing inspection, process monitoring, anomaly detection, segmentation, and classification.
• Build and curate image datasets, including data collection, annotation strategies, quality assessment, augmentation, and dataset management.
• Partner with manufacturing, automation, quality, and process engineering teams to define data requirements and execute model development.
• Support end-to-end deployment through the Analytics for Manufacturing Imaging platform, including image acquisition, model execution, visualization, alerting, and monitoring.
• Create reusable datasets, model templates, evaluation methods, deployment workflows, documentation, and implementation standards.
• Coach site engineers and project teams, deliver workshops and training materials, and support multiple concurrent deployments across the manufacturing network.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree, or 5+ years with an advanced degree.
• 3+ years applying AI, analytics, and computer vision in manufacturing, automation, or operations.
• 3+ years developing, training, and deploying computer vision models in production environments.
• Experience with model evaluation, validation, explainability, performance monitoring, lifecycle management, and industrial image datasets.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, validation requirements, operational technology environments, and IQ/OQ/PQ, equipment validation, and change control practices.
• For U.S. employment, unrestricted work authorization is required unless sponsorship applies to this Principal-level role; U.S. work authorization sponsorship is offered for Principal-level roles and above.

Nice to have

• Experience with MVTec HALCON, industrial vision systems, machine vision hardware, cameras, lighting, optics, and image acquisition systems.
• Knowledge of geometric measurement, feature extraction, edge detection, pattern matching, OCR/OCV, and rule-based inspection systems.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized AI deployments.
• Experience creating technical documentation, training materials, implementation playbooks, and scalable AI adoption practices.
