What you will do

• Develop and modify Python-based data acquisition, processing, and ingest software for near-real-time NOAA forecast products.
• Add NOAA product layers and services to nowCOAST GeoServer-based web mapping services and interactive viewers.
• Test and implement web-based visualization for STOFS-2D, STOFS-3D, storm surge, and other oceanographic products.
• Update S-100, BlueTopo, S-104, and S-111 map services and viewer displays.
• Upgrade and test nowCOAST compatibility with GeoServer 3 and maintain technical documentation.
• Develop and test end-to-end monitoring tools, including CloudWatch and NCO BigBrother-like dashboards, to improve service reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, meteorology, or physical oceanography.
• 2–4 years of software development experience, including GIS web mapping and Python-based applications.
• Strong programming knowledge with Python and JavaScript; some Java experience and Python package development experience.
• Experience with version control, Linux systems, technical documentation, and scientific data formats such as netCDF, GRIB2, HDF5, shapefiles, and geopackages.
• Working familiarity with AWS services, GeoServer, relational databases such as PostgreSQL/PostGIS, React, Node, Docker, and Kubernetes.
