Research Engineer (Imagery Science)

Location: Beavercreek, Ohio, with the role largely performed from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton

What you will do

• Enhance and optimize R&D algorithms for extracting insights from raw sensor data.
• Develop image-processing software in Python using modern libraries and software engineering methodologies.
• Process and exploit OPIR imagery and related data.
• Contribute to algorithm deployment using containerization and databases.
• Collaborate with a team of 3–5 people and communicate with peers and decision-makers.

Requirements

• Active Top Secret security clearance required.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or another engineering discipline.
• At least three years of experience in an image-processing-focused engineering role.
• At least one year of Python experience and one year of experience working with OPIR data.
• Strong Git-based software configuration management experience.
• Ability to work primarily from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

Nice to have

• Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an engineering discipline.
• Experience developing modular, reusable software with object-oriented practices.
• Experience with container technologies such as Docker or Podman.
• Experience with GitFlow and GitOps workflows using GitHub or GitLab.
