Senior Research Engineer (Python)

What you will do

• Enhance and optimize R&D algorithms for extracting insights from raw sensor data.
• Develop image-processing software in Python using modern libraries and software-engineering methodologies.
• Apply imagery-science expertise to OPIR image processing and data exploitation.
• Work with a 3–5-person engineering team and communicate with peers and decision-makers.
• Support algorithm deployment using containerization and databases.

Requirements

• Active Top Secret security clearance required.
• Master of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an engineering discipline.
• At least 7 years of experience in image-processing-focused engineering.
• At least 5 years of Python experience and 5 years of experience working with OPIR data.
• Mastery of software configuration management using Git.
• Strong written and verbal communication, initiative, and ability to work with ambiguous requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience developing modular, reusable software with object-oriented practices.
• Experience with Docker, Podman, or other container technologies.
• Experience with GitFlow and GitOps workflows using GitHub, GitLab, or similar repositories.
