Mechanical Engineer (Minerals Processing)

Location: On-site in San Francisco, United States; travel to company sites is required for projects, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design, fabricate, install, modify, start up, and commission equipment and pilot plant systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement solutions that support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
• Translate process requirements from process engineers and R&D scientists into equipment modifications, mechanical designs, and plant improvements.
• Create and maintain P&IDs, process and control narratives, equipment specifications, drawings, CAD models, and equipment manuals.
• Improve equipment reliability, maintainability, and operational performance while supporting software development for equipment design and plant reliability.
• Travel to company sites to support new projects, start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

Requirements

• B.S., M.S., or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in automated manufacturing, operations, process scale-up, or plant design in minerals processing, chemicals, specialty materials, oil and gas, or related industries.
• Demonstrated experience with equipment design, commissioning, operations, and reliability.
• Strong hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in plant environments.
• Strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance and mechanical integrity standards.
• Excellent technical writing, communication, teamwork, and ability to manage ambiguity.
