What you will do

  • Own the architecture of the core simulation platform supporting policy training, controls validation, and CI/CD integration testing.
  • Design cloud-native pipelines that generate millions of experience hours per day and scale compute-heavy workloads through distributed parallelization.
  • Define core abstractions and APIs for adding new physics, sensor, and rendering capabilities.
  • Set technical direction for performance, reliability, and scalability while resolving bottlenecks in high-throughput distributed systems.
  • Define the platform roadmap, review major design proposals, and reduce iteration time for reinforcement learning, controls, and perception teams.
  • Establish architecture standards, mentor senior engineers, and collaborate with Controls, AI Research, and Perception leadership.

Requirements

  • Excellent C++ and/or Python programming skills applied to large-scale system architecture.
  • Deep experience architecting distributed, high-throughput, or real-time software systems.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and distributed computing frameworks such as Ray or Kubernetes.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing, and software quality standards.
  • Experience making and communicating architectural trade-offs involving performance, flexibility, latency, and throughput.
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, plus 7+ years of software engineering experience including architecture or technical leadership.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of robotics concepts such as kinematics, dynamics, controls, or system identification.
  • Experience with Isaac Lab, MuJoCo, or equivalent robotic simulators.
  • Research or production experience with reinforcement learning.
