Accountant, Global Accounting - Inventory

Location: Hybrid in Escazú, Costa Rica

What you will do

• Support global inventory, cost accounting, financial close, compliance, and process improvement activities.
• Prepare analyses, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting schedules, and recurring operational reports.
• Analyze inventory balances, COGS, purchase price variance, manufacturing usage variance, revaluation, reserves, and other cost accounting transactions.
• Monitor and validate standard cost updates, costing structures, and cost estimates in SAP and other financial systems.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Procurement, Commercial, Finance, and global stakeholders to resolve accounting and costing issues.
• Support audits, SOX controls, ERP and SAP S/4HANA transformation projects, automation, reporting enhancements, and process documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field with 0+ years of experience; alternatively, an Associate’s degree with 4+ years or a high school diploma with 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in accounting, finance, inventory accounting, cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of US GAAP, inventory valuation principles, standard costing methodologies, and financial reporting requirements.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial and operational data accurately.
• Effective communication and professional collaboration with stakeholders across organizational levels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Nice to have

• Public accounting, inventory accounting, cost accounting, manufacturing finance, or supply chain finance experience.
• SAP experience with Inventory Management, Product Costing, Material Ledger, Cost Object Controlling, and Financial Accounting.
• Experience with FCCS, Hyperion, SmartView, Power BI, SAP Analytics, BusinessObjects, or similar reporting tools.
• Experience leading automation, transformation, continuous improvement, or financial systems initiatives.
• Experience using AI and digital productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and automation technologies with awareness of responsible AI practices.
