TL;DR
Safety Control Systems Engineer (Industrial Safety): Auditing, validating, and improving safety control systems for Toyota’s production engineering battery operations with an accent on functional safety standards, circuit validation, and regulatory compliance. Location: Liberty, North Carolina, United States; onsite industrial facility work with up to 30% domestic and international travel, including weekend, off-shift, holiday, and scheduled shutdown support.

What you will do

  • Develop area project plans, schedules, milestones, deliverables, concerns, and key performance indicators.
  • Audit Safety Control Systems for compliance with ISO 13849, ANSI B11, and other relevant standards.
  • Identify and document non-conformities, then design and verify countermeasures to achieve target control categories and performance levels.
  • Audit design modifications and perform hands-on troubleshooting and implementation as needed.
  • Manage third-party consultants by milestones and performance indicators.
  • Lead cross-functional communication, provide project status reports, and mentor the Control Reliability team.

Requirements

  • Must have the right to work in the United States without current or future hirify.global immigration support or visa sponsorship.
  • Functional Safety Certification, such as TÜV Functional Safety Engineer certification or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of functional safety engineering experience in automotive, manufacturing, industrial automation, machinery, aerospace and defense, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or a similar sector.
  • Technical Associate’s Degree or higher in a related discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 13849-1, ANSI B11, safety PLC programming, PLC/SPLC communication protocols, and system integration.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs and PivotTables, and PowerPoint; ability to navigate industrial facilities and lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.

Nice to have

  • Experience with risk assessment tools, FMEA, and FMEDA methodologies.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley GuardLogix, Omron Sysmac Safety, Keyence GC Configurator, Toyopuc PCWin Safe, or Siemens TIA Portal / Step 7 Safety.
