Physical Security Lead, Manufacturing Operations

Location: Hybrid; must be based in the San Francisco Bay, CA area, with regular site presence around Sunnyvale, CA and approximately 30–40% travel.

What you will do

• Establish and govern minimum physical security standards, site requirements, exceptions, and risk acceptance for contract manufacturing locations.
• Conduct initial, recurring, and event-driven site assessments, prioritize findings, and verify corrective-action closure.
• Design controls for sensitive-area access, clean-in/clean-out procedures, visitor and contractor management, device restrictions, and intellectual property protection.
• Oversee contract security services, including scopes, post orders, training, service levels, performance metrics, and corrective actions.
• Collaborate on access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, visitor management, and alarm-monitoring systems.
• Govern cargo and logistics security, respond to incidents, preserve evidence, coordinate investigations, and report risks and metrics to leadership.

Requirements

• At least five years of progressively responsible physical security experience in manufacturing, industrial, semiconductor, electronics, computing hardware, or a comparable operational environment.
• Experience implementing security controls in active manufacturing operations while balancing production, safety, quality, cleanroom, ESD, and continuity requirements.
• Experience supporting contract manufacturers, suppliers, or partner-operated facilities through standards, assessments, governance, and stakeholder influence.
• Experience protecting intellectual property, prototypes, high-value components, products, or sensitive technical information through access and security controls.
• Working knowledge of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, visitor management, alarm monitoring, cargo security, chain of custody, and incident response.
• Strong risk-assessment, project-management, written-communication, analytical, and stakeholder-influence skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in semiconductor, advanced electronics, computing hardware, cleanroom, new-product introduction, or production-ramp environments.
• Experience with Genetec or a comparable enterprise physical security platform.
• Familiarity with CTPAT, TAPA, ISO 28000, ISO/IEC 27001 and 27002, NIST SP 800-53, or NIST SP 800-171.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent directly related experience.
• ASIS CPP, PSP, or PCI certification.
