Manufacturing Security Specialist (Automotive Manufacturing)

Location: Sterling Heights, Michigan, United States; hybrid work with required on-site support at the manufacturing plant and availability for day, night, weekend, holiday, and 24/7 rotational shifts.

Salary: $74,300–$124,500 per year.

What you will do

• Provide on-site security and fire operations support, including staffing, access control, CCTV monitoring, fire inspections, and emergency response.
• Identify and escalate physical security gaps through proactive initiatives, plant walks, audits, and special projects.
• Support investigations, incident command, emergency response, and countermeasures related to theft, property loss, workplace incidents, and suspicious activity.
• Oversee daily security operations and contract security personnel, escalating performance issues when needed.
• Coordinate security coverage for special events and VIP visits with internal teams and external partners.
• Collaborate with Human Resources, Labor Relations, Safety, and other stakeholders to resolve workplace security issues and maintain compliance.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in law enforcement, the military, or security.
• Availability to work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including rotating shifts.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, conflict management, problem-solving, organizational, and computer skills.
• Concealed Pistol License and demonstrated firearm proficiency required as a condition of hire.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
• Ability to protect classified information and comply with security, fire, and emergency response protocols.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree and three years of supervisory experience.
• CPR/AED certification.
• Knowledge of global security, site security, fire operations, and emergency response levels.
• Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment and familiarity with Labor Relations protocols.
• Experience using data and metrics to track security incidents and support resource allocation.
