Instructional Designer (Secret Clearance Required)

Location: Hybrid remote in Springfield, Virginia, United States; up to 50% travel required

What you will do

• Conduct root-cause and task analysis using the SAT method to identify training needs, performance gaps, audience characteristics, and environmental constraints.
• Translate analysis findings into design requirements, learning objectives, instructional strategies, and storyboards.
• Create instructional content for video, computer-based training, presentations, instructor and participant guides, classroom activities, and scenario-based exercises.
• Apply adult learning theories, scenario-based training, and problem-based learning to support critical thinking and decision-making.
• Collaborate with instructional designers, subject matter experts, technical writers, customer support, engineering teams, and stakeholders.
• Use learning analytics and assessment strategies to measure training impact, perform quality reviews, and drive continuous improvement across concurrent agile projects.

Requirements

• Active Secret security clearance required.
• US citizenship required.
• Experience with instructional design, interactive multimedia instruction, and interactive eLearning solutions.
• Proven experience with ADDIE, SAT, and SAM models, task analysis, process mapping, and documentation.
• Strong research, analytical, communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, engaging instructional materials and collaborate with subject matter experts.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting intelligence, military, classified, Department of War, or federal government training environments.
• Knowledge of security protocols, compliance standards, or Section 508 accessibility requirements.
• Experience with augmented reality, virtual reality, simulations, Jira, SharePoint, or Microsoft Office.
• Experience with xAPI analytics, Articulate Storyline, Articulate 360, and Cornerstone LMS.
• Expertise in PowerPoint master slides and Word styles, plus experience using AI to improve content development efficiency.
