Principal Scientist - Cardiac Electrophysiology & Translational Ion Channels

What you will do

• Lead the scientific strategy for cardiac electrophysiology and translational ion channel research.
• Act as scientific lead across multiple integrated drug discovery programmes, from target validation through translational assessment.
• Interpret in vitro, ex vivo, and translational data to guide project progression and drug discovery decisions.
• Lead studies using hIPSC-derived cardiomyocytes, translational cardiac models, automated patch clamp, Qube, and MEA systems.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams and serve as the primary scientific contact for clients and stakeholders.
• Manage project plans, timelines, budgets, resources, scientific challenges, and delivery quality while mentoring scientists.

Requirements

• PhD in Biological Sciences, Pharmacology, Physiology, Cardiovascular Science, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
• Significant industrial drug discovery experience and expertise in cardiac electrophysiology, cardiac safety pharmacology, translational cardiovascular biology, and ion channel pharmacology.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary scientific teams and programmes, with strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
• Hands-on experience with automated patch clamp platforms, preferably Qube or Sophion, MEA technologies, hIPSC-derived cardiomyocytes, and translational cardiac models.
• Ability to translate complex scientific data into strategic programme recommendations.

• Experience in a CRO environment or with manual patch clamp.
• Experience across a broad range of ion channel targets.
• Significant publication record.
• Experience leading scientific strategy across multiple sites or business units.
