Staff Product Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote, limited to applicants residing in Canada or the United States with permanent work authorization

Salary: CAD 155,000–185,000 in Canada; USD 185,000–220,000 in the US

What you will do

• Own Thunderbolt product features from concept and technical planning through launch, adoption, and iteration.
• Build, integrate, test, and ship full-stack capabilities for AI-powered chat, search, research, workflow automation, administration, and enterprise workflows.
• Translate user needs, product direction, partner feedback, and enterprise requirements into executable technical plans and complete product experiences.
• Collaborate with product, design, engineering, enterprise-facing teams, contractors, and open-source contributors.
• Use AI-assisted development tools while maintaining quality, security, reliability, and maintainability.
• Instrument features, review adoption and reliability signals, identify product gaps and technical risks, and establish reusable engineering patterns.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including Staff-level scope, leadership, and impact.
• Strong full-stack skills across user interfaces, APIs, services, integrations, data flows, and infrastructure-adjacent areas.
• Experience owning complex product features from planning through implementation, launch, evaluation, and iteration.
• Experience building AI-enabled products or features, with practical knowledge of LLMs, RAG, agents, model and provider abstraction, data connectors, retrieval systems, or AI application architecture.
• Experience with open-source enterprise products, developer tools, infrastructure products, platform products, or technically complex enterprise software.
• Permanent work authorization and residence in Canada or the United States are required; visa sponsorship is not provided.

Nice to have

• Experience with self-hosted, hybrid, customer-controlled, or regulated deployments.
• Familiarity with the EU AI Act, Cyber Resilience Act, GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, or similar frameworks.
• Experience with enterprise customers, public sector organizations, systems integrators, technical partners, or customer-facing engineering.
• Experience with reusable product patterns, component libraries, instrumentation, observability, or experimentation.
