Italian Translator / Linguist

hirify.global is a nonprofit organization operating Wikipedia and other free knowledge projects, while building software experiences that support reading, contribution, and content sharing.

What you will do

• Translate English online fundraising content into Italian, including email and banner appeals, payment forms, and donor support pages.
• Respond to translation, translation review, and proofreading requests on an ad-hoc basis.
• Review suggested edits and decide whether to accept, incorporate, or reject them.
• Provide feedback on messaging, cultural context, and idiomatic nuances.
• Proofread content after coding and before it goes live.

Requirements

• Native Italian speaker with excellent verbal and written English skills.
• At least 5 years of extensive English-to-Italian translation and translation review experience.
• Previous experience translating marketing, advertising, or fundraising content.
• High reliability, punctuality, and ability to meet mutually agreed deadlines.
• Ability to work productively in a flexible environment.

Nice to have

• Experience interpreting or an interest in Wikipedia communities.
• Experience in the Wikipedia editing community or Wikimedia movement.
• Copywriting experience.
