Transmission Line Mechanic-D

Location: Muncie, Indiana; must live within a 45-minute safe driving distance of the Delaware Transmission site at 5313 N Shaffer Road. The role requires considerable travel, expected to exceed 50% of working time, as well as overtime, call-out overtime, and shift work.

Salary: $27.21–$27.91 per hour

What you will do

• Assist with installing, maintaining, rearranging, operating, removing, and inspecting overhead transmission and distribution facilities.
• Assemble and maintain conductors, fixtures, poles, and associated equipment, including in energized areas under qualified supervision.
• Support live-line work using live-line tools, bare-hand techniques, rubber gloves, sleeves, and other approved methods.
• Operate line trucks, bucket trucks, derricks, earth-boring equipment, tractors, trailers, winches, and related automotive equipment.
• Climb poles, ladders, and structures; work from buckets at heights of 100 feet or more and perform work above ground.
• Control transmission rights-of-way by cutting, spraying, and stacking trees and brush; maintain tools, records, reports, and work areas.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• No previous work experience is required; line work experience or line school education is preferred.
• Must live within a 45-minute safe driving distance of the Muncie transmission site.
• Must obtain an appropriate valid commercial driver's license within the designated probationary period and meet applicable vehicle-operation requirements.
• Must successfully complete the HireVue Line Worker Virtual Job Tryout, Physical Abilities Test, and physical abilities assessment.
• Must be able to perform heavy physical work, lift and carry materials, climb and work at heights of 100 feet or more, and work from bucket lifts at heights of 150 feet or more.
