Automation Engineer I

Location: Corp-Main, Diamond Bar, California, United States; onsite role with approximately 50% travel

Salary: $82,011.54–$118,916.74 yearly

What you will do

• Program, test, maintain, and document PLC, HMI, and control systems.
• Support automation projects and commission and validate new equipment and upgrades under the direction of senior engineers.
• Troubleshoot complex automation and manufacturing systems using structured diagnostic and root-cause methods.
• Collaborate with maintenance, production, engineering, operations, and quality teams to resolve technical issues and align solutions with production needs.
• Collect and validate operational data and support automation improvements, visualization, alerting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Apply engineering judgment, document assumptions and lessons learned, and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Requirements

• 0–2 years of experience in automation, controls, or manufacturing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Basic programming skills in Python, C++, or similar languages.
• Foundational knowledge of PLCs, control systems, and industrial automation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently in ambiguous problem spaces.
• Ability to work onsite in Diamond Bar, California and travel approximately 50% on average.

Nice to have

• Experience in field work or a manufacturing environment, including automation, controls, or manufacturing internships and co-ops.
• Experience with sensors, edge devices, embedded systems, or hardware prototyping.
• Exposure to data analytics tools, scripting, AI-assisted engineering platforms, Rockwell, Siemens, SCADA, HMIs, or industrial networks.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline.
