Sr. Claims Examiner (Insurance)

Location: Remote within the USA. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.

Salary: $48,000–$53,000 annually, plus potential eligibility for an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Analyze claim documentation and policy or certificate provisions to determine whether claims should be paid or denied.
• Manage claim reviews, obtain additional information from alternative sources, and document correspondence and conversations.
• Communicate with claimants, medical providers, medical examiners, and law enforcement verbally and in writing.
• Collaborate with managers, legal counsel, medical directors, claims assistants, and other departments on contested claims.
• Monitor claims for potential fraud and engage the Fraud team or conduct additional research when needed.
• Maintain regulatory compliance and represent the company’s position in depositions, hearings, or trials when required.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in a business field or equivalent experience.
• At least five years of claims experience.
• In-depth understanding of life and annuity product language, policy provisions, and regulatory or compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication, customer service, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to cross-train on other products, multitask, and adapt to change.
• Authorization to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
