Principal Hardware Engineer (Optical Transceivers)

Salary: $134,750–$192,500 per year

What you will do

• Serve as a subject-matter expert in optical transceiver hardware design and development.
• Lead opto-electronic packaging, component design, and integration strategies focused on performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
• Guide compliance, qualification, testing, and analysis against design specifications and standards such as Telcordia.
• Apply materials science expertise to material selection, testing, analysis, and hardware troubleshooting.
• Own high-speed PCB design integrating DSPs, drivers, TIAs, and other high-speed components.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship across firmware, test, materials, manufacturing, CAD, and global engineering teams.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Extensive experience designing high-speed electronic or optical systems and delivering released products with significant design ownership.
• Expertise in hardware design, opto-electronic packaging, materials science, product qualification, and industry standards.
• Experience with high-speed integrated circuits, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, DCA, and related test equipment.
• Strong scripting ability in Python or a similar language for automation and data analysis.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
