Principal Product Designer, Design Systems & AI

Location: United Kingdom; fully remote setup

What you will do

• Own the design system end to end, including design tokens, component libraries, documentation, and production code components.
• Lead the migration of the component architecture to shadcn/ui and Storybook across two converging product surfaces.
• Define design system governance, including versioning, contribution models, release processes, and design handoff criteria.
• Establish AI-forward design patterns, guidelines, and tooling for agentic product experiences.
• Prototype in the production stack, review component implementations, and validate AI-generated output using tools such as Claude Code.
• Raise craft standards across the senior design team through critique, pairing, and influence.

Requirements

• 12+ years of product design experience, including several years owning a design system at scale.
• Experience with design tokens, component architecture, governance, and production design system migrations.
• Engineering fluency in TypeScript and React codebases, Storybook, and technical architecture discussions.
• Demonstrated experience designing AI-driven or agentic product experiences.
• Professional experience using AI-assisted tools and reviewing and validating generated output before release.
• Experience leading through influence in flat or ambiguous organizational structures.

Nice to have

• Enterprise-scale framework migration experience and contributions to open-source design systems or component libraries.
• Experience designing for developer tools, data science, or other technical audiences.
• Experience building design tooling, Figma plugins, or AI-assisted design workflows.
• Experience across converging or multi-product platforms.
