Claims Examiner – Spinnaker (Insurance)

Location: Austin, TX; Dallas, TX; Bedminster, NJ; or San Jose, CA, United States

Salary: $85,000–$120,000 annual base pay for the Morristown, NJ location

What you will do

• Review claims submitted by third-party administrators and authorize reserves, payments, and funding requests within delegated authority.
• Guide claim investigations and support coverage analysis, including the engagement of experts and attorneys when needed.
• Review and approve reservation of rights and coverage denial correspondence.
• Monitor reserve adequacy, participate in claim file audits, and refer claims exceeding authority to supervisors.
• Prepare notifications and reports for underwriters, reinsurers, agents, insureds, and state agencies.
• Communicate claim updates and complex coverage or high-exposure matters to internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of claims handling experience in property, casualty, or specialty lines.
• Understanding of insurance coverage principles and policy interpretation.
• Experience investigating and resolving claims, including exposure analysis and reserving.
• Strong written and verbal communication and effective caseload organization.
• Ability to collaborate with internal teams, TPAs, claim administrators, brokers, and program partners.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Nice to have

• Experience working with TPAs or program business.
• Exposure to litigated claims.
• Professional designations such as AIC, ARM, or CPCU in progress or an interest in pursuing them.
