Mechanical Engineer (E3) – Design for Manufacturing (DFM) (Semiconductor Equipment): Driving manufacturability, producibility, assembly efficiency, quality, and supply chain robustness across semiconductor equipment products with an accent on DFM/DFX assessments, supplier collaboration, and manufacturing readiness. Focus on reviewing drawings and BOMs, supporting NPI and qualification builds, resolving supplier deviations and manufacturing non-conformances, and delivering value engineering improvements.
Location: Bangalore, India; relocation eligible; travel required up to 10% of the time

What you will do
- Drive Design for Manufacturability and DFX initiatives across semiconductor equipment products to improve manufacturability, producibility, assembly efficiency, quality, reliability, and supply chain robustness.
- Partner with design, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and suppliers to resolve build challenges, manufacturing issues, technical queries, and product readiness concerns.
- Review drawings, assemblies, specifications, and BOMs to identify manufacturability risks, tolerance concerns, process limitations, and simplification opportunities.
- Lead manufacturing-focused design reviews and recommend improvements to yield, cycle time, assembly efficiency, and product quality.
- Support NPI and qualification builds, factory integration, manufacturing ramp, and engineering change implementation.
- Resolve supplier deviations, NCRs, build issues, process escapes, and manufacturing non-conformances while driving value engineering and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
- 8–12 years of experience in semiconductor equipment, manufacturing engineering, supplier engineering, product engineering, NPI engineering, or DFM-related roles.
- Strong expertise in DFM, DFX, manufacturability assessments, and manufacturing readiness reviews.
- Hands-on knowledge of precision machined components, sheet metal fabrications, castings, plastics, ceramics, weldments, surface treatments, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Proficiency in NX, Creo, and PLM tools such as Windchill and/or Teamcenter, plus GD&T, tolerance optimization, drawing interpretation, process capability, and manufacturing feasibility assessments.
- Experience with aPriori, DFMPro, or similar manufacturability assessment tools, as well as build issue resolution and supplier technical concerns.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, APQP, PPAP, root cause analysis, and process capability studies.
- Experience leading supplier manufacturability reviews, process audits, production readiness assessments, value engineering, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience using AI-powered engineering and productivity tools for manufacturability assessments, drawing reviews, data analysis, and technical documentation.
