Accounts Receivable Manager (AI Automation)

Location: Hybrid position based in the downtown Columbia, South Carolina office; candidates should be within commuting distance of Columbia or open to relocation. The role was also posted in Charlotte and surrounding markets for visibility.

Salary: $118,000–$140,000 annually, paid bi-weekly, less applicable withholdings and deductions.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end customer invoicing for milestone, time-and-materials, and cost-reimbursable contracts.
• Manage cash application, account reconciliations, credit adjustments, discrepancy resolution, and collections across a multi-entity structure.
• Prepare joint venture, cost reimbursement, fee, and intercompany billings, including settlement tracking and supporting documentation.
• Track unbilled receivables and contract assets while coordinating with Technical Accounting on ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• Maintain AR reporting, aging analysis, expected cash inflows, month-end and year-end close activities, controls, and audit support.
• Use AI and automation to improve invoicing, cash application, reporting, and data flows between NetSuite, operational platforms, and NOS.

Requirements

• 6+ years of progressive accounts receivable, billing, accounting, or finance experience, including ownership of core AR or billing activities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Hands-on expertise across contract-based invoicing, cash application, account reconciliation, discrepancy resolution, and multi-entity or intercompany environments.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition concepts, including ASC 606.
• Proficiency with a modern cloud ERP and strong Excel skills; hands-on NetSuite experience is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated use of AI tools and automation to implement scalable billing, cash application, or reporting workflows.

Nice to have

• Startup or high-growth company experience building or scaling a finance function.
• Experience in EPC, construction, power, energy, project-based, government, or cost-reimbursable contract billing.
• Experience with complex customer contracts, milestone billing, contract asset accounting, NetSuite billing modules, ERP implementations, audits, or internal controls.
• CPA or CMA certification.
