Procurement Specialist (Biotechnology)

Location: San Diego, United States; on-site five days per week

Salary: $70,000–$85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications

hirify.global is an early-stage biotechnology company developing genomics and molecular detection platforms through molecular biology, chemistry, and systems engineering.

What you will do

• Own the requisition-to-order cycle, including request validation, quote collection, purchase order issuance, tracking, and approved requisition processing.
• Source suppliers, run RFQs, negotiate pricing and terms, and identify savings through consolidation, contract pricing, standing orders, and alternate sourcing.
• Track open orders, expedite backorders and delayed shipments, and provide spend reporting in partnership with Finance and Operations.
• Manage vendor onboarding, supplier relationships, performance monitoring, vendor visits, and second-source options for critical materials.
• Receive shipments, verify contents and lot details, route temperature-sensitive materials, and maintain stockroom inventory and cycle counts.
• Coordinate capital equipment purchases, service contracts, returns, RMAs, and disposition of damaged or non-conforming goods.

Requirements

• 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience, including at least 2 years in a biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device, or research laboratory environment.
• Familiarity with laboratory consumables, reagents, and scientific supply distributors.
• Experience independently issuing and tracking purchase orders and managing vendor relationships.
• Strong negotiation, organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage concurrent orders and priorities.
• Strong Excel proficiency and ability to learn purchasing, inventory, or ERP systems.
• Ability to work on-site five days per week and regularly lift or move packages weighing up to 50 lbs.

Nice to have

• Experience in an early-stage or rapidly scaling company.
• Familiarity with cold-chain handling, dry ice, and temperature-controlled storage.
• Experience with ERP, inventory, or e-procurement platforms such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, Quartzy, or Coupa.
• Exposure to regulated quality environments and supplier qualification practices.
• Experience with capital equipment procurement, service contracts, or facilities vendor coordination.
