TL;DR
Senior Supplier Development Engineer I/II – Mechanical (Aerospace): Lead the industrialization of mechanical hardware suppliers from source selection and process qualification through NPI, PPAP, and production ramp with an accent on manufacturability, supplier quality, and production readiness. Focus on DFM reviews, APQP quality planning, Cpk capability, FAI, and resolving supplier performance gaps through structured corrective action.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based at hirify.global's headquarters. This is an onsite role supporting supplier and production activities. Candidates working in U.S. offices must be eligible to access ITAR-controlled technology, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, refugee or asylum status, or required government authorizations.

Base pay range: $102,400–$156,000 USD annually, depending on level, knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

What you will do

  • Lead end-to-end supplier industrialization for mechanical hardware from source selection and process qualification through NPI, PPAP, and production ramp.
  • Evaluate suppliers across CNC machining, EDM, grinding, additive manufacturing, welding, and electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Conduct supplier capability assessments covering tooling, measurement systems, process controls, workforce qualification, quality systems, and capacity.
  • Lead DFM reviews with design engineering, addressing feature complexity, datum schemes, tolerance stack-ups, cost, and quality risks.
  • Own APQP and PPAP deliverables, including process flows, PFMEA, control plans, MSA/GR&R, dimensional results, and Cpk capability evidence.
  • Drive supplier improvement plans, FAI activities, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, process audits, SPC, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Senior Supplier Development Engineer I: minimum 5 years of experience in aerospace, medical, automotive, industrial, or another regulated industry.
  • Senior Supplier Development Engineer II: minimum 8 years of experience in aerospace, medical, automotive, industrial, or another regulated industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, control plans, MSA, and statistical process capability, including Cpk/Ppk.
  • Experience conducting DFM reviews and translating design intent into manufacturing and quality requirements.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T under ASME Y14.5, and 3D CAD models.
