TL;DR
Senior Propulsion Design Engineer I (Aerospace): Designing, analyzing, and building Archimedes engine components and propulsion systems with an accent on mechanical design, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, structural mechanics, and manufacturability. Focus on developing hardware from concept to production, performing finite element analysis and trade studies, and collaborating with manufacturing teams to advance Neutron engine development.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based at hirify.global headquarters

Base salary: $135,475–$178,675 USD annually. Total compensation, including base and equity: $115,200–$158,400 USD.

hirify.global is a space company building rockets, spacecraft, propulsion systems, and other critical aerospace subsystems, including the Neutron launch vehicle and Archimedes engine.

What you will do

  • Design engine systems and components, including combustion chambers, turbomachinery, and engine layouts.
  • Develop and own mechanical design solutions for propulsion systems.
  • Design, analyze, and build aerospace hardware for the Archimedes engine.
  • Perform trade studies and design reviews from concept through production.
  • Collaborate with analysts, manufacturing engineers, subject matter experts, and internal and external fabrication teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a relevant engineering field.
  • Strong foundation in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and structural mechanics.
  • Proficiency in finite element analysis using ANSYS Workbench or similar software.
  • Mastery of mechanical design principles, design for manufacturing, and GD&T.
  • Experience developing parts, assemblies, or systems from concept to production and maintaining engineering design best practices.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency in StarCCM+ or similar CFD software.
  • Experience designing additively manufactured rocket engine components.
  • Experience with propulsion systems design, analysis, testing, operations, or manufacturing.
  • Experience qualifying and producing aerospace hardware in fast-paced development programs.
