Location: Onsite at Carilion Rockbridge Hospital in Lexington, Virginia; candidates must reside and be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $18.65–$19.90 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

  • Perform patient admissions, assign accurate medical record numbers, collect demographic and insurance information, and process physician orders.
  • Complete insurance eligibility, benefits verification, medical necessity, compliance, and Advanced Beneficiary Notice checks.
  • Collect point-of-service payments, explain consent and patient education forms, and offer payment plan options.
  • Audit accounts and reports, correct documentation, and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership.
  • Develop training materials, train new hires, provide continuing education, and create department staff schedules.
  • Provide on-call and after-hours support, including unscheduled coverage when staffing issues arise.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of relevant job experience.
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of revenue cycle processes, including admissions, billing, payments, and denials.
  • Knowledge of patient insurance processes, authorizations, benefits verification, and health insurance requirements.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology or CPT and procedure codes.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Lexington, Virginia, and reside and be authorized to work in the United States.
