TL;DR
Lead Hardware System Architect (PCIe/GPU): Architecting next-generation graphics compute platforms, GPU servers, and high-speed PCIe graphics hardware with an accent on physical system architecture, high-speed interconnects, power delivery, and signal integrity. Focus on defining scalable PCB topologies, leading JDM/ODM bring-up and failure analysis, and governing transitions from EVT/DVT to high-volume manufacturing.

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; onsite 5 days a week

Salary: $200,000–$250,000 per year

What you will do

  • Own the end-to-end hardware development lifecycle for graphics compute platforms, GPU servers, and high-speed PCIe graphics form factors.
  • Drive system architecture trade-offs across GPU packaging, PCB routing density, thermal mechanics, and high-density power delivery networks.
  • Design and optimize PCIe Gen 5/Gen 6 and scale-up interconnect topologies, including fabrics such as NVLink, Infinity Fabric, and UA Link.
  • Collaborate with silicon, signal and power integrity, thermal, and mechanical teams on board stack-ups, low-loss materials, and multi-phase power zones.
  • Lead JDM/ODM engineering partners through layout execution, platform bring-up, hardware debugging, and component-level failure analysis.
  • Govern design reviews and DFX compliance to support EVT/DVT validation and high-yield high-volume manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of hardware design experience shipping graphics hardware, GPU motherboards, or parallel compute accelerator boards.
  • Hands-on experience with PCIe Gen 5/6 and high-speed 112G/224G PAM4 SerDes architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of high-frequency PCB constraints, via optimization, signal and power integrity, and power delivery networks for high di/dt loads.
  • Proficiency with EDA tools such as Cadence Allegro or OrCAD and physical-design simulation tools.
  • Experience directing overseas ODM engineering teams through architecture, layout, and laboratory hardware triage.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Open Compute Project standards or multi-GPU form factors.
  • Familiarity with CXL or scalable interconnect fabrics.
  • Experience with liquid cooling or phase-change thermal infrastructure.
  • Hands-on use of oscilloscopes, VNAs, BERTs, or similar high-speed validation equipment.
