Head of Compliance (Crypto)

OKX operates a financial services and crypto ecosystem, including an MFSA-authorised European investment services entity operating a multilateral trading facility and MiFID derivatives business.

What you will do

• Own the MTF compliance framework, including policies, procedures, controls, registers, monitoring, and regulatory reporting.
• Act as the primary compliance contact for the MFSA and manage authorisation variations, notifications, reviews, inspections, and remediation.
• Own the venue rulebook and oversee member admission, participant monitoring, instrument admission, and access controls.
• Oversee orderly trading, algorithm testing, systems resilience, circuit breakers, market making, transparency, waivers, transaction reporting, and reference data controls.
• Advise product, engineering, trading operations, legal, and market operations on venue changes, launches, marketing, DORA, outsourcing, and critical third parties.
• Build and lead the MTF compliance team, training programme, risk assessment, monitoring plan, and Board-level reporting.

Requirements

• 10+ years of regulatory compliance experience in financial services, market infrastructure, fintech, or crypto, including senior or head-of-function experience.
• Direct trading venue compliance experience with an MTF, OTF, regulated market, systematic internaliser, or equivalent execution venue.
• Practical knowledge of MiFID II, MiFIR, MAR, market abuse surveillance, STOR decision-making, transparency, transaction reporting, and related RTS.
• Experience building compliance frameworks, engaging supervisors, and preparing reporting for Boards or regulators.
• Familiarity with MFSA Investment Services Rules and Malta's regulatory environment, or the ability to develop this expertise quickly from another EEA jurisdiction.
• Must be eligible for MFSA approval as the holder of the compliance function. Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience required.

Nice to have

• Crypto industry experience involving tokenised instruments, crypto derivatives, or MiCA-authorised trading platforms.
• Experience with the DLT Pilot Regime, trading venue authorisations, or licence variations adding MTF operations.
• Familiarity with surveillance platforms and transaction reporting tooling.
• ICA, ACAMS, CISI, or equivalent compliance certification.
