Software Engineer II (Java)

What you will do

• Design and develop fullstack banking software using Java and modern web technologies.
• Build Java microservices with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Develop and integrate RESTful and SOAP-based APIs.
• Work with NoSQL databases, JPA, and Hibernate.
• Deploy and troubleshoot services in Kubernetes environments.
• Apply software development, quality assurance, and Agile engineering practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in software design and development, including at least 2 years with the preferred technology stack.
• Experience with Java fullstack development, microservices, Spring Boot, Angular, HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Experience with TDD/BDD, RESTful services, CI/CD tooling, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of software development and quality assurance best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills and the ability to work onsite from the Dundee office.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants such as Cursor or equivalent AI-first IDEs.
• Experience using generative AI for code generation, refactoring, test generation, documentation, and API contract generation.
• Understanding of responsible AI usage, including code correctness, security, data privacy, and licensing.
• Ability to critically review and validate AI-generated code.
