TL;DR
Software Engineer II (Java/Fintech): Building and maintaining reusable Java full-stack components and microservices for intelligent banking solutions with an accent on API-first development, software quality, and cloud-native engineering. Focus on designing REST and SOAP integrations, applying AI-assisted development and testing, and troubleshooting secure, stable services in Kubernetes environments.
Location: UK - Scotland - Dundee Office; onsite role

What you will do
- Develop high-quality, maintainable, and reusable Java full-stack software components and microservices.
- Design, implement, and test software that improves stability, performance, security, and reusability.
- Diagnose system failures and troubleshoot software deployments and runtime issues in Kubernetes environments.
- Use AI-powered development tools for coding, refactoring, code review, static analysis, test generation, and documentation.
- Participate in code reviews, Agile planning, backlog refinement, and delivery commitments.
- Collaborate with Solution Management, Product, Security, and Platform teams while mentoring other engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 2–4 years of software design and development experience, including at least 2 years with the preferred technology stack.
- Experience with Java full-stack development, Java microservices, Spring Framework or Spring Boot, NoSQL, JPA, Hibernate, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, and Angular.
- Experience with RESTful services, REST and SOAP frameworks, TDD/BDD, and automated testing.
- Experience with CI/CD tooling including Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, Docker, and deployment or troubleshooting in Kubernetes environments.
- Strong software development, quality assurance, Agile, communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants such as Cursor or equivalent AI-first IDEs.
- Experience applying Generative AI to code generation, refactoring, test coverage, documentation, and API contract generation.
- Knowledge of responsible AI usage, including code correctness, security, data privacy, licensing, and validation of AI-generated code.
- Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, major cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, and ATM-related systems.
