Solutions Architect (Observability)

Location: Remote within the United States

Salary: $160,000–$210,000 annually

Snowflake provides a Snowflake-native data platform, including Observe, an AI-powered observability solution for enterprise-scale logs, metrics, and traces.

What you will do

• Lead technical discovery for enterprise engagements by assessing telemetry, infrastructure, data volumes, tooling, and operational requirements.
• Design end-to-end Observe architectures covering telemetry ingestion, pipeline topology, data modeling, enrichment, normalization, alerting, and retention.
• Create architecture blueprints, implementation plans, reference architectures, design decision records, runbooks, and configuration standards.
• Validate configurations, pipelines, and data models against production-scale requirements and conduct go-live architecture reviews.
• Design migration architectures and phased cutover strategies from Splunk, ELK, Datadog, Dynatrace, and New Relic to Observe.
• Support Implementation Engineering teams with architectural decisions, mentor junior engineers, build demo infrastructure, and provide field insights to Product and Engineering.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in customer-facing technical roles such as Solutions Architect, Staff or Principal Engineer, observability engineer, or SRE.
• Deep expertise in observability platforms and telemetry systems at scale, including logs, metrics, traces, and data-modeling tradeoffs.
• Strong hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry, including instrumentation, collector configuration, exporters, and multi-signal pipelines.
• Experience designing or leading migrations from commercial observability platforms to modern alternatives.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, containerized workloads, and Kubernetes environments.
• Strong technical communication and documentation skills, including architecture diagrams, design records, runbooks, and implementation plans.

Nice to have

• Background in SRE, platform engineering, or DevOps operating production observability at scale.
• Experience creating internal standards, reference architectures, enablement content, demo environments, or lab infrastructure.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes-native observability and cloud-native monitoring tools.
• Experience in or alongside professional services organizations, or direct experience with Observe.
