Location: Bedfordshire, United Kingdom. The role includes real-world flight testing at a test facility less than 1 km from the office.

What you will do

  • Develop, maintain, and test safety-critical software for aircraft flight systems.
  • Contribute to requirements definition and develop flight control laws and data manipulation algorithms using MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Verify and validate software through bespoke simulations before deploying it to target hardware.
  • Conduct real-world flight testing at the nearby test facility and present findings in reports or customer-facing presentations.
  • Support standard operating processes, continuous improvement, and quality targets within a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Degree in aerospace engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Understanding of aerodynamics, flight mechanics, and their impact on flight control.
  • Experience using MATLAB and Simulink to develop algorithms and control laws.
  • Hands-on experience designing and commissioning control systems.
  • Existing SC-level National Security Vetting clearance, or the ability to obtain it, is required.
  • Good communication skills and a passion for innovative technology.

Nice to have

  • Experience with guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for fixed-wing or rotary-wing vehicles.
  • Experience with small UAS, embedded, real-time, or safety-critical systems.
  • Knowledge of sensing and communication systems, data fusion, and state estimation.
  • Experience with Stateflow, Simulink Coder, Embedded Coder, Git, C++, Java, or Python.
  • Knowledge of software quality standards such as DO-178 and ED-20x.
