Data Scientist - Sciences (Medical Devices)

Location: Oakdale, Minnesota, United States; minimum 3 days per week onsite

Salary: $128,000–$160,000 annually, with potential discretionary bonuses

What you will do

• Support global R&D projects and products through laboratory test design and analysis of existing data.
• Design experiments by defining variables, fixed conditions, design space, controls, and repeatability and reproducibility assessments.
• Apply statistical methods including sample size determination, hypothesis testing, error analysis, variability assessment, and detection and quantification limits.
• Perform multivariate analyses to assess system sensitivity, optimize systems, and define further testing.
• Review protocols, data, and reports for statistical rigor and interpretation quality.
• Educate Science teams on experimental design and data analysis while providing updates to R&D Sciences management.

Requirements

• Degree in engineering, science, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years of related experience with a B.S., 7 years with an M.S., or 5 years with a Ph.D.; 10+ years in roles involving in-depth data analysis and reporting.
• Strong statistical background and experience designing experiments using DOE.
• Experience with laboratory or manufacturing data and work in regulated environments.
• Expertise with statistical tools such as Minitab or JMP and advanced Excel statistical capabilities, including complex and large datasets.
• Formal DMAIC experience, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to communicate data-driven business recommendations.

Nice to have

• Experience automating statistical analysis with Python.
• Experience developing Excel macros and templates for scientists.
• Formal Design for Six Sigma experience.
• GMP, GLP, or GDP experience in medical devices or drug products.
