Staff Data Scientist, Computational Biology

Location: Lexington, Massachusetts, United States; remote and hybrid options. Applicants must currently have permanent US work authorization without the need for immediate or future sponsorship.

Remote salary range: $165,750–$195,000 USD annually. California salary range: $195,585–$230,100 USD annually.

What you will do

• Own the product roadmap for target identification software.
• Gather and prioritize scientific requirements from internal biology and chemistry users.
• Translate research use cases into technical specifications for engineering teams.
• Prototype computational solutions in Python and develop internal packages, reproducible workflows, and APIs.
• Lead cross-functional projects spanning data engineering and software engineering.
• Establish documentation, onboarding materials, platform best practices, and predictable release practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of industry experience in computational biology or data-driven discovery.
• At least 1 year of experience working with software engineering and data engineering teams.
• Proficiency in Python, R, modern development frameworks, and internal package development.
• Experience with omics or translational data analysis, scalable ETL pipelines, data modeling, and quality control.
• At least 1 year of experience leading complex projects as a product owner, including target identification, prioritization, or multimodal analysis.

Nice to have

• Dashboard development with Shiny, Dash, Streamlit, React, or Vue.
• Knowledge of cloud-native tools and modern data platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Familiarity with the drug discovery and development process.
