Surgical Technologist - SEIU- Operating Room - Sign on Bonus eligibile

Location: Melrose/Wakefield Hospital, 585 Lebanon Street, Melrose, MA. On-site role with four 10-hour shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., an alternating day off, and on-call shifts approximately every six weeks from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Pay range: $29.42–$36.57 per hour, based on full-time equivalent.

What you will do

• Prepare operating rooms, case carts, instruments, and equipment for scheduled procedures.
• Serve as the scrub person during surgical procedures while maintaining the sterile field and applying aseptic technique.
• Anticipate surgeon needs, pass instruments, support medication administration, and maintain accurate counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments.
• Assist nurses, transporters, anesthesiologists, and other personnel with patient transfers, equipment setup, emergency supplies, and specimen preparation.
• Update physician preference cards and report equipment or preparation issues to the Clinical Practice Leader.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology Program or Massachusetts Licensed Practical Nurse qualification.
• Surgical Technician certification through an accredited program or certification within 12 months of completing the program.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• At least two years of operating room experience; four years preferred.
• Ability to lift 30–35 pounds occasionally, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform precise manual procedures.
