Sr Program Manager - Smart Utility

Location: Remote - Florida

Company

Specialty distributor providing water, wastewater, storm drainage, fire protection, and related infrastructure solutions to municipalities, utilities, and contractors across the United States.

What you will do

• Oversee large and strategic Smart Utility programs, connecting project activities with customer expectations, contractual requirements, and long-term business goals.
• Establish program governance plans and coordinate project management, sales, OEM, partner, subcontractor, accounts receivable, and accounts payable stakeholders.
• Manage shared resources, budgets, delivery tools, risks, overlapping project needs, and customer satisfaction.
• Lead negotiations for major Smart Utility contracts and align terms with legal, financial, regional, and operational requirements.
• Draft and review contracts, service-level agreements, and memoranda of understanding while ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
• Monitor vendor and labor performance, track milestones, administer contracts, and resolve disputes, grievances, and change-management issues.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age and able to pass a pre-employment background check and screening.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business, public administration, project management, utility management, or a related field.
• Experience leading large, complex public-sector programs involving multiple stakeholders, subcontractors, consultants, and customer organizations.
• Experience working with municipalities, counties, utilities, or other public-sector entities.
• Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, change management, and executive communication skills.
• Ability to build credibility with executive stakeholders and navigate high-visibility programs.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of utility infrastructure, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), smart utility technologies, or large-scale metering programs.
• Water utility experience; electric or gas utility experience is also relevant.
• Experience with a utility, engineering consulting firm, infrastructure contractor, technology provider, or metering manufacturer.
• Master’s degree, such as an MBA, Engineering Management, or Public Administration.
• PMP, PgMP, CCM, PE, or another relevant professional certification.
