Accounts Payable Specialist (Accounting)

Location: 75 Steel City Ct, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 50,000–60,000 annually

What you will do

• Process outgoing vendor payments by EFT, wire transfer, and cheque, and resolve payment issues.
• Validate and post freight and rail invoices using three-way matching.
• Monitor freight accruals, reconcile vendor accounts and statements, and support month-end and year-end close activities.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve billing discrepancies and payment inquiries.
• Verify banking information through vendor callbacks and support payment security and fraud prevention.
• Prepare financial reports, audit documentation, filing systems, training guides, and process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• At least 1 year of accounts payable or finance-related experience.
• Strong knowledge of invoice processing, three-way matching, and payment reconciliation.
• Experience with EFT, wire, or cheque payments and payment reconciliation.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, documentation, and prioritization skills.
