Sr. Backend Engineer (Java/Kotlin)

What you will do

• Develop Kotlin-based services using Spring Boot and Ktor for a containerized platform.
• Build and scale distributed backend applications with a focus on reliability and performance.
• Design and implement internal and public APIs using gRPC, REST, and OpenAPI.
• Write high-quality code with automated testing and influence technical solutions and engineering best practices.
• Design and maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD workflows from build through release.
• Contribute to AI-assisted developer tooling, vulnerability remediation, authentication hardening, and operational duty during business hours.

Requirements

• Experience with Kotlin or Java, Spring, and Java frameworks and technologies.
• Knowledge of software design patterns and enterprise application design.
• Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience owning services end to end and working with clean code and agile development practices.
• Good written and spoken English proficiency.
• Daily experience with AI-assisted development tools and practices.

Nice to have

• Advanced Kotlin concepts, including coroutines, and experience with Gradle.
• Experience with GitHub Actions, Python, AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, kubectl, Helm, and ingress.
• Familiarity with Prometheus, distributed tracing, and agentic AI frameworks such as Koog or LangGraph.
• An MS or similar degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
