Staff Engineer - Trust & Vault (Fintech)

What you will do

• Own the architecture and technical direction of the Trust & Vault domain, covering vaulting, authentication, optimization, account updater, and portfolio migration.
• Design and build PCI-compliant systems for tokenizing, storing, and retrieving raw card data within the PCI boundary.
• Develop 3DS/SCA and network-tokenization capabilities that strengthen transactions while reducing friction.
• Build payment-optimization features using network tokens, account updater services, and vaulted card data to improve authorization and acceptance rates.
• Design resilient, multi-tenant, elastically scalable microservices with automated observability and production ownership.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with Product, the CTO Office, and Staff Engineers on complex cross-team initiatives.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with deep expertise in Go and/or Kotlin and strong full-stack capability.
• Experience architecting scalable distributed systems, event-driven platforms, gRPC/REST APIs, and cloud-native or serverless architectures.
• Experience building foundational platform capabilities or complex distributed systems, ideally involving tokenization, card vaulting, authentication, or PCI-scoped infrastructure.
• Strong experience with AWS and cloud-native services such as RDS, ECS, EKS, and S3.
• Excellent automated testing practices across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing within Agile, DevSecOps, and CI/CD workflows.
• Advanced written and spoken English required.

Nice to have

• PCI DSS card vaulting, tokenization, network-tokenization, 3DS/SCA, or account-updater expertise.
• Payments or fintech experience at global scale.
• Experience optimizing performance and algorithms for high-throughput, low-latency systems.
• Spanish proficiency, open-source contributions, technical writing, or engineering-practice leadership across teams.
